Cowboy stuff

I always thought of KS as a fly-over state, but not so. It is beautiful & has a distinctively western feel. Yes, there's wheat, vast oceans of it, but also ranches (instead of farms) with the ranch gates. And cattle (up close & personal). So why do horses look curious when they see you & cattle look dumbfounded?
